The majority of the vitamins and minerals present in a rice kernel can be found in the bran layer and in the germ. These parst of the rice kernel are separated when brown rice is polished to obtain white rice. In order to utilise this highly nutritional part, BENEO-Remy created RemyLiVe, stabilised rice bran, germ.
RemyLiVe is more than just a fibre source. It is in fact a complete food ingredient consisting of
- ~20% fibres,
- ~20% lipids,
- ~15% proteins
- ~15% carbohydrates
It is also rich in vitamins (especially vitamin B), minerals (especially magnesium and phosphorous) and anti-oxidants (such as gamma-oryzanol, only found in rice), making RemyLiVe the one of the best ingredients to enrich the nutritional profile of food products such as (gluten free) bakery products and extruded cereals and pastas.
Due to its high lipid content (80% are unsaturated lipids), RemyLiVe has an ideal matrix for lipid soluble micro-nutrients such as vitamin E and other fat-soluble micro-nutrients. Moreover, rice bran oil is a highly valuable vegetable oil, known for its health effects and well appreciated for its cooking qualities as well as its cosmetic effects on skin and hair condition.
